The Berejiklian government should be condemned for failing to take measures to remove flammable cladding from hundreds of Sydney apartment buildings, say NSW Upper House candidates Anthony and Sharni Monaghan, of Mosman and Narrabeen
“It is shocking that the Berejiklian administration has permitted high rise apartments to be built using cladding which had caused fires and deaths and destruction overseas and in Melbourne,” Mr Monaghan says.
“Efforts by apartment owners to remedy the poor construction standards have been stymied by the NSW government’s recent refusal to share information about the sorts of cladding which have been permitted and represent a serious risk to buildings,” Mr Monaghan says.
“At the same time the NSW government is threatening unit owners with fines unless they get these buildings fixed.
“Moreover the Berejiklian government has introduced restrictions on suing bad builders and their insurers for the cost of rectifying bad building work.
“That is dishonest and unhelpful administration. It is another good reason the Berejiklian government should be voted out of office on 23 March,” Mr Monaghan said.
